extra weight

Carrying extra, unnecessary weight is no fun…

Recently I completed the first 75 days of the #livehard program, #75Hard.

During these 75 days, I was able to lose 16 pounds. I know, I know…in comparison to some people’s weight loss, not a huge accomplishment, but a big deal for me.

I’ve always been right around 150/155 pounds for most of my life, so weighing in at just over 170 pounds was a lot for me.

So as I said, I dropped 16 pounds, and I had this realization the other day when I was doing my daily walk…

I was wearing a weight vest during my walk that had 16 pound in it! I was voluntarily carrying 16 pounds in a vest…to work out, but was previously carrying 16 pounds of fat around my belly and the rest of my body.

I say all this to say that with that vest on, my body was “feeling it!” I was a little winded, it was about 85 degrees outside, so I wasn’t comfortable. It all made sense to me as to why my body was hurting and struggling when I was carrying an extra 16 pounds of body weight because of choices I myself had made.

My health was not what I was used to…no bueno!

I’ve seen multiple speakers over the years do illustrations of carrying unnecessary weight/baggage, and that’s just what I was doing. I was feeding myself all the “feel good” foods, and I was paying for it with my health.

Please, for the sake of your own health and for the love of your family, stay healthy, eat right, and get yourself moving. Your life may depend on it.
